Lighting designer, David Trubridge, is well known in the lighting industry as an environmentally sensitive designer. For example, he uses bamboo plywood for a line of extraordinary pendants and chandeliers that all reference a pattern, object or design that we find in nature. Made from a 1mm bamboo plywood his light fixtures come in a flat box that are ‘easily assembled’ with help from an instructional video as back-up.
The forms include a globe that is inspired by natural coral, and a long pendant that references the form of a breadfruit tree. Most fixtures come in several options of sizes as well as three different stains — all modern, fresh and beautiful. Their instructions admit that estimated construction time is 40-60 minutes to complete.
These fixtures are significant because not only do they reference the most compelling patterns on earth, but they are beautifully constructed and ecologically sensitive.
